“This is Bell OH-13 that served in Viet Nam. It had a very hard landing due to a collective cotter pin malfunction. It hit hard destroying the blades, collapsing the skids and chopping off the tail rotor. It was patched together as a Santa Claus party display. The Viet Nam War Museum in Mineral Wells, Tx purchased it, out of Washington state, on ebay, with the hopes of restoring it to original for a ground display. A colleague in WA. (that didn't know Helicopters) looked it over and indicated it was a good item for display, It is a mess. The blades are 2X10 lumber, the skids look to be water pipe, the tail boom is patched together from tubing, and the exhaust manifolds are missing replaced by a single pipe on each side.”
Make: OH-13 Bell Helicopter Model Year: 1960"s
This is Bell OH-13, with trailer, that served in Viet Nam. (that didn"t know Helicopters) looked it over and indicated it was a good item for display, It is a mess. The blades are 2X10 lumber, the skids look to be water pipe, the tail boom is patched together from tubing, and the exhaust manifolds are missing replaced by a single pipe on each side. The Museum paid $5000 for the Bell and trailer and $3000 for shipping. Upon arrival, we realized that it wasn"t feasible to repair/restore the Bell. Hopes are some patriotic soul will be generous enough in purchasing this, that the Museum can recoup some of it"s loss. Local pickup only.It is ready to be trailered.
