“Repainted 2005. Small paint bubble repaired on right wing. Some small nicks and scratches. 09/2015 condition inspection (Annual)”
Make: Velocity, Standard Elite RG Model Year: Built by Mark Riley 1999
The aircraft is a good cross-country flyer. It burns about 6 gallons per hour at 2000 RPM at 170 MPH at 8500 feet altitude. Because of the canard design, the front wing carries about 20% of the load. This produces a mild response to turbulence. Because the engine is in back, it is very quiet in front. The fuel tanks can carry 60 gallons. But I would not want to fly non stop for 10 hours. Besides there are probably stops along your route that has cheeper fuel. The plane has a wing leveler that is tied to the GPS. The plane will follow a course in the GPS. There is an ILS in the panel. It would be possible to fly on instruments. With the intercom you can assign a separate radio to each pilot. There is a CD player also. I took my flying instruction for the Velocity at the Velocity factory in Sebastian Florida. The plane is easy to fly. The plane is flown to the runway, no stall landing. The plane cannot be stalled. The front wing angle of attack is 2° lower than the main wing. The front wing will stall first just dropping the nose a bit. If you fly along holding the stick full back. the plane will hobby horse. (Fly level with the nose bobbing up and down) I think it is one of the safest planes around. I don’t understand why all planes aren’t canards. I know that it can be scary buying an airplane on-line without seeing it in person. I am confident that you will be happy with it, so much in fact that I will refund your money and not hold you to the purchase if you come to inspect it within the first seven days after the auction is over and you are not happy with it. Again, this is only offered if you come in person and within the seven days.
