1962 M20C Mooney Ranger. 3600TT, 1240 SMOH. Annual current till October. This is an all metal aircraft. Excellent shape under the inspection covers. Little to no corrosion on airframe. I purchased it in Utah and it has apparently spent a good deal of time in dry climates. It does have some hail dents. Paint is presentable but it could use a paint job.
ENGINE: Trusty lycoming carbureted O360, 180 HP. Oil consumption is the best I’ve ever seen. Goes about 8 tach hours before adding a quart. Has about 1250 hours on a 2000 hour engine.
PROP: Prop AD was just done. Good for another 100 tach hours. This is the only recurring AD on the aircraft. Was inspected by Byam Propeller in Ft Worth Texas. FYI, cost was $200 so it’s not too bad. It takes a long time to rack up 100 tach hours on a personal airplane.
COCKPIT/RADIOS: VFR equipped. Has all Apollo radios; audio panel, 2 com’s, and an Apollo built in GPS. All radios work great including the GPS. The transponder is regular mode C and works as well. Interior appears to be original and in decent shape.
NICE TO KNOW STUFF: The fuel tanks develop a small blue stain only when topped off. Anything under full tanks there are no problems. It never loses any fuel if it sits a long time. None of that has been a problem at all. There is no fuel smell in the cockpit. The hail dents are not an issue. Just cosmetic.
I fly this Mooney every 2 weeks, weather permitting from Dallas to west Texas and back for my job as a Kingair medevac pilot out of Pecos, Texas. About a 6 hour trip. It flies straight and true. No funny business with the flight inputs. In smooth air it flies basically hands off with tiny corrections as it is supposed to. I fly 24 square and it uses 9 GPH and gives an honest 130 knots true air speed.
The annual is current and good till October. I’m selling because I bought a Bonanza. This has been a super simple, economical, practical commuter plane for me and I’m sure the next owner will not be disappointed. The best part about this is you can fly in and fly it home with no worries. If you need help flying it home I would be glad to help with that. Great high performance airplane for less than the cost of most entry level trainers. My name is Mike. My cell is 903 268-3219.
