Registered experimental aircraft built by a lifetime pilot and engineer with three other Engineers helping. Two of the engineers were aeronautical engineers by profession. Call number is N24088. Always stored in a hanger. All aluminum construction. The fuselage is welded aluminum tubing. The skin is flush riveted aluminum monocoque construction.
Beautiful professionally drawn and very detailed plans by a lifetime engineer/architect who always loved to draft his own drawings by hand.
The wing is a big and small built up I-beam with aluminum ribs and flush riveted aluminum skin.
The engine is a Volkswagen engine that has been split in half so it"s two opposed cylinders. A lot of the engine work was done by MOFOCO Volkswagen shop on Capitol Drive in Milwaukee. Just had the engine running last week. Ignition is Magneto.
Airplane only weighs about 400 pounds. The airplane is designed for a pilot between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall weighing around 140 to 170 pounds and no passenger. The wingspan is in the neighborhood of 20 feet.
The airplane is largely finished but it has a few details to be worked out and needs to be certified. Perfect airplane for a guy who likes to work on a close to finished project and be ready to fly this summer. Plans and many rivets, screws... included.
