I need to sell my Mooney M20A. I have purchased a high wing airplane that is easier to enter and exit, since my wife and I are getting older. I don"t need 2 airplanes, so this classic Mooney needs to go.For sale is a flying, airworthy, in annual, 1958 Mooney M20A. I am a Commercial Pilot and an A&P mechanic, and I have owned this aircraft for several years. It was my personal aircraft. Mooneys are fast, efficient cross country airplanes, that are still efficient enough for local flying.Aircraft has a fresh annual, signed off a few days ago, November 1, 2015, so it has a full year before needing another annual!!
Low time on airframe, only 2307 total hours!! Mid time 180 horsepower Lycoming O-360A1A engine has 1144.4 hours SMOH. Compressions are excellent, #1-77/80, #2-78/80, #3-76/80, #4-77/80. Engine starts and runs strong. The Lycoming 180 HP engine has a reputation as being very reliable and trouble free with a 2000 hour TBO. The constant speed propeller functions without issues. The landing gear is the Mooney Johnson Bar manual retract system. It works well and has no hydraulics or electrical components. It"s a simple, reliable, retractable gear system. The original wooden tail has been replaced with a metal tail per the AD affecting wood tail Mooneys. n
Aircraft is clean. Paint about a 6, interior about a 5 (seats and such are dated but not torn up).
2 each Terra digital nav and com radios, audio panel with intercom, panel mount Garmin VFR, moving map gps unit, ADF, Narco transponder with Mode C. The compass in the pictures has been replaced with a conventional whisky compass. The original, old style Mooney instrument panel has been replaced with a more modern looking modified 6 pack panel. The 6 pack configuration is very desirable for instrument flying and long cross country flying. This custom modification is a very desirable, rare and expensive upgrade on older Mooneys!!!
Good tires, in annual and currently flying. This has been a good aircraft. I bought it to get some low priced complex time, and have enjoyed it tremendously. We have flown it from Arlington, Texas to Houston, San Antonio, New Orleans, Madison Wisconsin, Titusville Pennsylvania and other places. It is time for another owner to enjoy this airplane.Engine and propeller logs complete. Airframe logs complete beginning April 1978 through present. The first log book is missing. I had it, but cannot locate it. Of course, if I find the first logbook, it will go to the new owner. After all that, keep in mind this is a 50 plus year old aircraft, so it cannot be expected to look like new, and it will have its share of blemishes.
Airplane is hangared at Arlington, Texas, KGKY.
Aircraft is currently flying, so times may vary a bit. It is also for sale locally, so I may terminate this auction early. Before you bid, PLEASE first talk to your spouse, your banker, your mechanic and whoever else. Your bid is NOT an option to buy. If you win, you have purchased the aircraft.
Call me (Phil Mitchell) at 817-909-1178 (cell), or e-mail at p.j.m.attorney@gmail.com if you have questions. I can also deliver the airplane for a low fee, and a return airline ticket. I am a Commercial Pilot.
