I bought a 1/4 share five years ago mainly because my old flight instructor/A&P was doing the annual and said is was a good plane. Also the engine is awesome. The IO-540-D puts out monstrous 300 HP and uses 14.5 gallons an hour at 75% power.
We use 145 knots for flight planning.
Here is the catch... You need to have logged 400 hours and be instrument rated to be be a partner.
This plane flies hard IFR often, it"s very reliable and the other two partners (one owns 50%) want experience pilots. If you don"t have time in a high performance aircraft or only 300 hours (waiver) you will be expected to spend 10 hours with an instructor.
Last annual was May 2015. Complete log books, all AD"s are current, all grips cleared and the checking account has $12,120 as of June 26th, with another $4,000 or so due to be deposited at the end of the month.
This is an old plane but like many it"s been well cared for and likely lived it"s entire life inside a hanger.
Air frame has just over 8,400 hours. (no damage)
Engine has 1,389 hours and is running great. The last five years of oil analysis are available and indicate the engine should make it to TBO.
Plane routinely flies to Fort Lauderdale, Nashville and up the coast to Connecticut. There are four fuel tanks totaling 84 gallons of which 83.6 are usable. We try to put 100 hours on the plane every year but rarely make it. In five years I had a scheduling conflict with another partner just once.
The specs on what this plane can carry is frankly impressive.
Prop will be overhauled next annual at a cost of $2,500 to $3,500.
I"m selling my share because I"m relocating to Maine.
Plane is based in Norfolk Virginia. LL is $1.00 off the listed price 365 days a year (currently just $5.60 a gallon) and you are strongly encouraged (basically mandatory) to use the valet service with NLT two hours heads notice to the flight line. This service is free and included with the hanger rent. If you"re an IFR pilot looking for a six seat work horse, this is your plane and it"s NOT a huge initial money decision which is why the price is fixed. You are not tying up a lot of money up front but the quarterly costs are something you need to be aware of as they tend to add up. Like most partnerships there are dues. They are $200 a month, flight time at $55 an hour tach both of which are billed quarterly. Reach out if you have any specific questions and my suggestion if your really interested is to go fly the plane. :-) Current date: 2015-06-27
