“This listing is for flight training only. Our 1942 Cessna T-50 is available for flight instruction. If you know someone or have a family member that flew bombers or transports in WW2, then you know that they trained in this airplane first. This is a unique opportunity to experience what it was like to fly in the 1940s.”
This is one of about 20 airworthy examples still flying. Ours is a working bird, still earning her keep. This is a rare opportunity to fly a piece of living history. You are not going to find this offered anywhere else. It"s been said, the T-50, is the nicest flying airplane Cessna ever built.
We"ve gotten a lot of questions about operating cost, etc.. I"ll try to be a bit more clear in our description. The Bamboo Bomber costs the same to operate as the T-6 Texan, even though there are two engines and propellers to maintain. If you go online and search for T-6 flight training, you"re going to see most operators are in the $700 and up range. That being said, here are the details......
Our Cessna T-50 is available for flight instruction, $600 per hour dual and $550 solo, if you have renters insurance. This airplane is an unmolested example of 1940s aviation. We had to add a modern radio and transponder to make the Bomber usable in todays air traffic environment. Other than that, it"s about as original and unrestored as you"re ever going to find. Flying the T-50 is like travelling back in time. Sitting between the two slow turning radial engines, you are transported to another era. A time when they built airplanes with room to stretch your legs and comfort was a priority, not an afterthought.
We can do short introductory flights or complete checkouts. If you and three of your pilot friends want to get together and split the bill, take a trip in the Bomber and share the left seat. At 150 mph, this is a nice travelling machine. Comfort in flight is second to none. You can go anywhere you can take a 172 with no problem.
