NOTE: This is a flying project ideally suited for an individual with an IA or A&P certificate. This 1943 Boeing Stearman was painstakingly restored in 1996 by three retired business man in Northern California (logbook copies of the restoration posted in photo section). The airplane was sold and flown to Tuskegee, Alabama were it was to be placed in a new museum to honor the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II. For 12 plus years the airplane was stored in Tuskegee, Alabama and was used to promote the museum. They would pull it out, run it, show it off to VIPs, news stories (one feature story on Good Morning America), etc. While the aircraft was in storage and being used for promotional events, they did some damage to the airplane – mostly fabric damage, from non-aviation people not knowing where to put their hands and feet. There is cracked rib on the left lower wing outside the wing walk (this is mostly likely from someone not knowing where to place there feet when on the wing), there is fabric repairs done to the rudder, aileron, the landing gear struts are frozen and need work, plus other little miscellaneous item, this is from the airplane being used more as a display than an airplane. Note: the aircraft is in license and is legal to fly in its current condition - these are open items, we share this simply in an attempt to provide a complete and accurate description of the aircraft. The aircraft is currently stored at Mallard Field in Locust Grove. GA approximately 35 south east of Atlanta. 1943 Boeing “Stearman” PT17 B75N1 N62416 Serial Number 75-7570 Airframe: Total Time: Unknown (information pertaining to times begin at time of restoration) Restoration: 50 Hours Since Ground Up Restoration * Engine: 50 Hours Since Engine Overhaul * – (Continental 220) Propeller: 50 Hours Since Propeller * (Falcon) Avionics / Instruments: 720 Channel Com ELT (There is no transponder installed ) Annual Status: Completed September 2014 Logbooks: Copies of the restoration (attached in photo section) with logbooks starting at last annual go with the aircraft - any history prior to 1996 is unknown.
