1959 BEECHCRAFT K35 BONANZA COMPLETE AIRFRAME, 5151 TT, TIP TANKS, SPEED SLOPE, NICE, CHEAP!!
AUTOPILOT IS AN EXTRA CHARGE. $3500 WILL BE ON TOP OF WINNING BID. IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE AUTOPILOT, IT WILL BE REMOVED.
AIRCRAFT IS LOCATED IN ELDORADO,AR AT THE AIRPORT. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERSONALLY ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR OR MOVING OF THIS AIRPLANE SORRY.
THE 1959 K MODEL BONANZA IS ONE OF THE “REINFORCED” BONANZA LINE, WHICH STARTED WITH THE 1957 ‘H’. ALL ‘H’ AND UP AIRPLANES WERE DESIGNED WITH THE NEW 470 SERIES CONTINENTAL ENGINES IN MIND AND ARE BEEFED UP FOR HIGHER GROSS WEIGHTS AND HIGHER CRUISE SPEEDS.
THE ‘J’ WAS THE FIRST TO USE THE FUEL INJECTED 250 H.P. IO-470 ENGINE, ALSO USED IN THE ‘K’ AND ‘M’.
ALTHOUGH K35’S LIKE THIS ONE CAME FROM THE FACTORY AS HEAVIER DUTY, THEY WERE NOT ‘MODERN’ IN ALL STANDARDS.
FACTORY EQUIPPED WITH 2 PIECE FLAT WINDSHIELDS, A REALLY STUPID SETUP FOR RADIOS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE DASH, OLD STYLE CIRCUIT BREAKERS THAT WERE INVISIBLE TO THE PILOT, SMALL, HARD TO READ ENGINE GUAGES AND A BOW-TIE YOKE FROM THE 1940’S!
LUCKILY, THE COOL FEATURES THAT THE FACTORY AND THE AFTERMARKET CAME OUT WITH FOR LATER MODEL BONANZAS FIT BACK TO FIT THIS K35 AIRPLANE, SO THE AIRPLANE SHOWN HERE IS A FAR CRY FROM THE ORIGINAL.
THE ‘K35’ HAD AN OPTION FOR IN WING AUX FUEL TANKS WHICH HOLD 10 GALLONS EACH SIDE, SO FUEL BECOMES LESS OF A FACTOR, WITH 70 GALLONS AVAILABLE, OVER 4 HOURS WORTH OF ENDURANCE. THIS AIRPLANE HAS THOSE 10 GALLON AUX TANKS.
WHAT REALLY SHOWS WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS AIRPLANE THOUGH ARE THE OSBORNE 20 GALLONS PER SIDE TIP TANKS!!
FILL EVERYTHING ON THIS AIRPLANE AND YOU HAVE 110 GALLONS!! NOT ENOUGH TO FLY ACROSS THE PACIFIC, BUT ABLE TO TAKE A PRETTY BIG BITE OUT OF THE WHOLE CONTINENTAL U.S.!!
NOW MOST PEOPLE DON’T NEED 7 1/2 HOUR ENDURANCE, BUT AS YOU GET A 100 LBS INCREASE IN USEFUL LOAD WITH THESE TANKS, YOU HAVE NO REASON NOT TO LIKE THEM! AS THESE TANKS DO NOT USE A SEPARATE FUEL SELECTOR, BUT A PAIR OF PUMPS, WITH INDICATOR LIGHTS AND AUTO SHUTOFFS, THEY ARE AS EASY TO USE AS THE FACTORY AUX TANKS, MAYBE EASIER.
MY STANDARD CROSS-COUNTRY LOAD WITH THIS SETUP IS FULL MAINS (50 GALLONS) AND FULL TIPS(40 GALLONS), FOR HASSLE-FREE 90 GALLONS, OR 6 HOURS CAPABILITY. MOST TRIPS ARE OUT AND BACK WITHOUT REFUELING!!
SHARP EYED BUYERS WILL NOTICE THAT THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE SPEED-SLOPE 1 PIECE WINDSHIELD MOD, WHICH IMPROVES EVERYTHING:
MORE SPEED, LESS NOISE, BETTER OUTWARD VISIBILITY, LESS FEELING OF CONFINEMENT INSIDE AND OF COURSE, IT MAKES THE AIRPLANE LOOK MORE MODERN !!
LESS OBVIOUS BUT VERY IMPORTANT ARE THE UPGRADED ALUMINUM FLAPS AND AILERONS, NOT MAGNESIUM!!
ALL OF THE ‘K’ MODELS, INCLUDING THIS ONE, CAME WITH THE TAIL BEEF UP MOD STANDARD.
INSIDE, THE FIRST THING YOU WILL NOTICE IS THE NEW INTERIOR SMELL FROM THE BRAND NEW AIRTEX INTERIOR!!
MODERN LIGHT GREY, WITH TASTEFUL STITCHING AND BOLSTERS FOR A COMFORTABLE, CLEAN LOOK.
SIDE PANELS AND BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT PANELS ARE MATCHING AND THE CARPET IS NEW.
INCLUDED ROSEN SUNVISORS ARE A NICE TOUCH WITH THE SPEEDSLOPE WINDSHIELD.
THE WHOLE INTERIOR IS GREAT!!
NOW LET’S LOOK AT THE DASH. NOT YOUR FATHER’S STANDARD K35 BONANZA, WHICH ACTUALLY WAS THE SAME AS THE 1946!!
THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE FULL BERYL D’ SHANNON CENTER STACK UPGRADE KIT!!
THIS SYSTEM UPGRADES THE OLD DASH TO ALL OF THE FEATURES AND LOOK OF THE V-35B, BUT ACTUALLY BETTER, WITH A CENTER AVIONICS STACK, MODERN ENGINE GUAGES ON THE PILOT’S SIDE, A TRUE 6 PACK GUAGE LAYOUT PLUS EXTRAS ON A VIBRATION-REDUCING ISOLATED PANEL. ROOM FOR AVIONICS INDICATORS IN THE UPPER PANEL, NOT DOWN BELOW THE YOKE BAR.
MODERN CIRCUIT BREAKERS IN AN ACCESSIBLE AND VISIBLE PANEL
ROUND, INDIVIDUAL FUEL GUAGES FOR ALL TANKS, EVEN THE TIPS
A THING OF BEAUTY, AND EXPENSIVE TO BUY SO MOST OTHER AIRPLANES OF THIS VINTAGE HAVE THE OLD LOOKING ORIGINAL..
TO TOP IT ALL OFF, THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE LATEST STYLE OF LARGE RAM’S HORN YOKE, WITH THE LATEST DIGITAL TIMER INSIDE!
IF YOU WENT AHEAD AND PEEKED, YOU CAN SEE THAT THIS AIRPLANE IS UNDAMAGED.
NEWER STYLE PAINT SCHEME, IN SHINY BLUE AND GREY. THE FUSELAGE AND CONTROL SURFACES ARE VERY, VERY NICE, WITH A LITTLE TOUCHUP ONLY REQUIRED ON THE WING LEADING EDGES.
NO GEAR UP, NO HAIL, NO RUNNING INTO AIRPORT FENCES OR SIGNS (I HAVE HAD ALL THOSE THIS YEAR)
THIS AIRPLANE WAS INSTEAD MORE A VICTIM OF CIRCUMSTANCES THAN DAMAGE.
THE OWNER WAS GIFTED THE AIRPLANE BY A RELATIVE (WE SHOULD ALL BE SO LUCKY)
SINCE HIS ORIGINAL INVESTMENT WAS ZERO, HE FELT COMFORTABLE SLATHERING MONEY WHERE IT WOULD DO THE MOST GOOD: OVERHAULED ENGINE, OVERHAULED PROP, NEW INTERIOR, ETC. AND ALSO IN LESS VISIBLE BUT IMPORTANT ITEMS LIKE REBUILDING ALL OF THE LANDING GEAR, OVERHAULING THE GEAR MOTOR, SHIMMEY DAMPNER, NEW BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS AND THE LIKE.
BUT LESS THAN 50 HOURS INTO OWNERSHIP, HE HAD A FLAT TIRE ON THE RIGHT MAIN WHILE LANDING AT AN AIRPORT AWAY FROM HOME. NOT A BIG DEAL, HAVE A SHOP REPLACE THE TIRE WITH NEW AND FLY IT HOME, WHICH HE DID, WITHOUT INCIDENT.
AFTER THAT FLIGHT, HE BROUGHT IT IN FOR ANNUAL TO THE ONLY MECHANIC ON THE FIELD, WHO HAD NEVER DONE WORK ON THE PLANE BEFORE.
AFTER HEARING ABOUT THE TIRE EVENT, HE CHECKS THE AIRPLANE OVER AND PRONOUNCES THE NOSEGEAR BENT. MIND YOU, IT FOLDED UP AND RETRACTED FINE FOR THE OWNER. IT DOESN"T LOOK BENT, OF COURSE, AS THE TRUNION IS A LARGE, HEAVY CASTING. THIS MECHANIC WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO TALK TO TODAY WHEN I LOOKED AT THE AIRPLANE, BUT THE FORMER OWNER SWEARS IT’S FINE, THE MECHANIC WHO DID THE ENGINE INSTALL RECENTLY SAYS IT’S FINE, BUT THE BASED MECHANIC SAYS THAT THE TRUNION SITS CLOSER TO THE RIGHT NOSEGEAR DOOR THAN THE LEFT, “PROVING” THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG.
I AGREE, THE NOSEGEAR DOORS ARE POORLY ADJUSTED, WITH THE RIGHT BEING FURTHER CLOSED AT REST THAN THE LEFT.
SOMEBODY SHOULD REMOVE THE COTTER PIN, TURN THE ADJUSTING SCREW ON THE END OF THE ROD, AND PROPERLY MATCH THE DOORS TO EACH OTHER.
I HAVE INCLUDED LOTS OF PICTURES I JUST TOOK, OF THE TRUNION ATTACH POINT, THE KEEL, NOSEGEAR WELL SIDES, ETC. NO DEFORMATION IS VISIBLE AT ANY POINT. THE SIDES OF THE WELL ARE NOT SCRAPED. THE RIGHT NOSEGEAR DOOR IS STRAIGHT, JUST SLIGHTLY MORE CLOSED, ALL THE WAY BACK.
ASK THE FORMER OWNER, THE LAST ONE TO FLY THE PLANE, AND HE WILL TELL YOU THERE WAS NO ISSUE, BUT THE MECHANIC WOULD NOT PERFORM THE ANNUAL.
I BOUGHT THE AIRPLANE KNOWING THE ENGINE WAS TOO VALUABLE TO LEAVE WITH THIS AIRFRAME, SO THIS AIRPLANE IS BEING SOLD WITHOUT THE ENGINE, ENGINE ACCESSORIES, PROP AND SPINNER.
YOU ARE NOT GETTING THE ENGINE, BUT YOU ARE BUYING THE WHOLE ASSEMBLED AIRFRAME, AS SHOWN!
WE WILL EVEN INCLUDE THE RECENTLY REWORKED, UNDAMAGED EXHAUST SYSTEM!!
ALL ENGINE CONTROL CABLES, LINES AND HOSES ARE STILL INSTALLED AND INCLUDED!
IN THE DASH, ALL FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS EXCEPT THE TURN CO-ORDINATOR ARE INCLUDED.
THIS INCLUDES THE CENTURY NSD-360 SLAVED HSI SYSTEM, THE BASIS OF A SERIOUS IFR MACHINE!
ALL ENGINE AND AIRFRAME INSTRUMENTATION IS INTACT INCLUDING:
ELECTRONICS INTERNATIONAL UBG-16 ULTIMATE BAR GRAPH EGT/CHT SCANNER.
DIGITAL TACH
DIGITAL VOLT/AMP METER
AVIONICS INCLUDED ARE:
KING PUSH BUTTON AUDIO CONTROL PANEL
KING MARKER BEACON LIGHTS AND RECEIVER
4 PLACE INTERCOM SYSTEM
KING KR-87 ADF SYSTEM WITH ANTENNA AND INDICATOR
NARCO TRANSPONDER WITH MODE “C” ENCODER.
NO NAV-COMS ARE INCLUDED WITH THIS SALE, BUT YOU WILL BE PLEASED TO KNOW THAT TRAYS ARE INCLUDED AND WIRED FOR:
A GARMIN GNS SERIES NAV-COM-GPS, A KING 170 SERIES NAV-COM AND A KING DIGITAL DME. ANTENNAS ARE ALSO STILL INSTALLED.
THESE TYPE RADIOS ARE READILY AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET, FROM US OR OTHERS, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE.
DON’T PAY FOR WHAT YOU DON’T WANT AND DON’T HAVE MONEY INVESTED UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO FLY.
SO, IF YOU ARE GOING TO PUT THIS AIRPLANE BACK INTO THE SKY, YOU NEED AN ENGINE AND PROP.
A SIMPLE 250 H.P. AND 2 BLADE WILL DO NICELY.
OR UPDATE THE ENGINE TO A 260 H.P. IO-470, A 285 H.P. IO-520 OR EVEN THE BIG DADDY IO-550 300 H.P.!
AND OF COURSE A 3 BLADE WOULD WORK FINE ON ANY OF THESE ENGINES AS WELL!
I BOUGHT THIS AIRFRAME WITH THE INTENTION OF PARTING IT OUT, BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE VALUABLE AND DESIRABLE AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE WHICH THERE DOESN"T SEEM TO BE.
I CAN STILL PART IT OUT, OF COURSE, BUT I USUALLY DON’T DO THAT WITH NICE AIRPLANES, AND FROM THE PAINT TO THE NICE INTERIOR, TIP TANKS TO MODERN DASH, HSI AND GARMIN WIRING, THIS IS A NICE AIRPLANE.
LAST ANNUAL EXPIRED JUNE, AND THE AIRPLANE HAS BEEN STORED INSIDE SINCE.
DON’T HESITATE, OR IT WILL BE GONE!
SOLD WITH THE AIRFRAME LOGBOOKS SINCE NEW, THE FAA BILL OF SALE, THE FAA AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE (IN PLANE) AS WELL AS MUCH OTHER PAPERWORK, THE BATTERY (UP), AND OF COURSE THE KEYS!!
LOCATED AT THE EL DORADO ARKANSAS AIRPORT, SOUTH OF LITTLE ROCK.
