YOU SEE, THERE ARE A FEW HAIL PINGS ON THIS AIRPLANE, BUT THEY ARE VERY LIGHT, AND VERY SCATTERED. NOT WHAT YOU MIGHT EXPECT FROM "FLYING INTO HAIL"
THE STORY WAS THAT THE HAIL WAS EXPERIENCED WHILE FLYING, AND THE PAINT MISSING FROM THE WING LEADING EDGES IS OFFERED AS PROOF, BUT.....
THERE ARE NO HAIL PINGS ON THE WING OR TAIL LEADING EDGES ?
THE SCATTERED LIGHT HAIL IS ONLY ON THE TOP SURFACES, AND SEEMS TO BE VERY LIGHT ON THE CONTROL SURFACES, WHICH USUALLY SHOW MORE? KIND OF LIKE WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE WITH OLD HAIL THAT WAS REPAIRED ON THE SURFACES LONG AGO, BUT NOT THE FUSELAGE/WINGS?
I CANT SAY BECAUSE I NEVER SAW THE AIRPLANE BEFORE.
CURIOUS QUESTIONS ASIDE, AND DEALING WITH THE AIRPLANE AS IT IS FOR SALE HERE, I WOULD RECOMMEND THE WING LEADING EDGES SHOULD BE TOUCHED UP OR REPAINTED, BUT THE REST OF THE AIRPLANE, INCLUDING THE WINGS AND THE FUSELAGE, DO NOT REQUIRE REPAIR !!
NONE OF THE LIGHT HAIL PINGS HAVE AFFECTED THE FLYING CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS PLANE, NOR SHOULD THEY AFFECT THE AIRWORTHINESS !!
IN FACT THE PILOT/OWNER OF THIS AIRPLANE CONTINUED TO FLY THE AIRPLANE AFTER THE INCIDENT, UP TO THE DAY HE GOT THE CHECK FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND GAVE THEM THE LOGBOOKS AND KEYS !!
NOW OUT OF ANNUAL FOR 4 MONTHS, SO YOU SHOULD GET A FERRY PERMIT TO FERRY IT HOME, BUT REMEMBER THAT ANY PRIVATE PILOT CAN FERRY AN AIRPLANE WITH THE FREE FERRY PERMIT, YOU DO NOT REQUIRE A SPECIAL OR HIGHER RATING OR EXPERIENCE OR LICENSE TO DO SO.
