THE COMANCHE IS A HANDSOME AIRPLANE, LOW AND FAST LOOKING, AND THE LONGITUDINAL PRIMARY STRIPES REINFORCE THIS STRENGTH.METCO STLE UPGRADED WINGTIPS INCREASE CRUISE SPEED AND DECREASE STALL SPEED, AND LOOK BETTER DOING IT!INSIDE, THE TAN CLOTH SEATS AND SIDE PANELS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION AND THE OVERALL INTERIOR APPEARANCE IS NICE.IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY, IN ADDITION TO THE POLISHED POINTY SPINNER, YOU WILL SEE THAT THE NEW STYLE HARTZELL SPINNER IS BENT AT THE TIPS.YEP, THIS AIRPLANE HAD A GEAR-UP LANDING!NOT A GEAR COLLAPSE, OR PARTIAL GEARUP, THE PILOT JUST FORGOT!THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THE DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE IS VERY ISOLATED AND VERY REPAIRABLE!THE LOWER COWLING METAL IS UNTOUCHED ! THERE ARE 2 LITTLE PLASTIC AIRSCOOPS THAT SCREW TO THE METAL, AND BOTH OF THESE ARE SCRAPED, BUT NOT THE METAL!THE NOSEGEAR DOOR WAS FULLY RETRACTED AND IS NOT EVEN SCRAPED.SPEAKING OF GEAR, NONE OF THE LANDING GEAR WAS TOUCHED AT ALL, NO DAMAGE OF ANY KIND, DOUBLE-PUCK BRAKE CALIPERS ARE UNTOUCHED AND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ACTUATING MECHANISMS, IT WENT DOWN PERFECTLY WHEN THEY JACKED IT UP ON THE RUNWAY!IN FACT, THE ACTUATING PUSH-PULL TUBES WERE BOTH REPLACED IN 2017 AND THE SYSTEM ADJUSTED AFTERWARDS.THE EXHAUST PIPE IS SLIGHTLY SCRAPED AT THE BOTTOM EDGE.THERE IS SCRAPING TO THE SKIN AT THE REAR EDGE OF THE NOSEGEAR WELL, BUT THE ONLY REAL SCRAPING ARE THE SKINS AFT OF THE WELL AND FORWARD OF A LINE BETWEEN THE 2 MAIN GEAR. NO SCRAPING TO THE BELLY OR TAIL AFT OF THE MID-CABIN!THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER FLAP OR THE FLAP HANGERS.NO DAMAGE TO EITHER WING AND NO DAMAGE TO THE MAIN GEAR, MAIN GEAR DOORS, AILERONS OR WINGTIPS!NO DAMAGE TO THE AFT FUSELAGE, TAILCONE, HORIZONTALS, VERTICAL OR RUDDER!THIS AIRCRAFT HAS NO HAIL DAMAGE AND THE GLASS LOOKS GOOD!THE PAPERWORK IS GOOD TOO, WITH AIRFRAME LOGBOOKS SINCE BRAND NEW IN 1960, ENGINE LOGS SINCE THE FACTORY OVERHAUL (THE ENGINE WAS UPGRADED TO A MODERN WIDE-DECK CASE AND CYLINDERS AT THAT TIME) TO THE PRESENT.COMPRESSIONS AT THE LAST ANNUAL WERE 72, 75, 73 AND 1 LOW ONE, SO THEY SENT IT OFF FOR VALVE GUIDE REPLACEMENT AND IT’S GOOD NOW.
