The aircraft is in excellent top notch condition. It has been recovered with Stitts Ply-Fiber in 2012 by Long"s Aircraft Service in Texas. Originally it came with Grade A cotton. Plywood on wing bottom center section was also installed at the time of the recovery in accordance with Phoenix Aircraft Company STC.
We replaced the windshields with new larger factory windshields (like on 2012 Great Lakes) - $1300 value
When we bought it in 2013 we installed Garmin GTN430w COM/NAV/GPS WAAS and PS engineering open cockpit intercom. It gave a significant sound quality improvement, which is really important for open cockpit. We also overhauled all instruments at the time, all together a $12,000 value.
Top overhaul was just done 30 hours ago - $7500 value.
We spent a lot of time looking for a plane is good condition and I"m pretty sure this is one of the best Great Lakes out there. It does have a fuel stain on the right lower wing. I filled the tank and didn"t fly it for couple of weeks. Fuel expanded because of heat, drained out and stained the wing. According to Randy Long, who covered the aircraft, the stain should go away with time (in approximately a year?).
This airplane has Jun 2016 annual and transponder check and is ready to fly and have fun!
