A NEW WING, WITH A CARBON FIBER SPAR, WHICH IS STRONGER AND LIGHTER.
THE NEW GTS-X PACKAGE, WHICH ECLIPSES EVEN THE FORMER TOP OF THE LINE GTS PACKAGE AND BRINGS BETTER, FANCIER EVERYTHING, INCLUDING MORE EQUIPMENT AND NEW PAINT DESIGNS AND COLORS.
AT THE TOP OF THE GTS-X HEAP, AND THE FASTEST, BEST PERFORMING SR-22 EVER, IS THE SR-22 GTS-X TURBO, LIKE THIS AIRPLANE!!
THE GOLD PAINT IS VERY RICH.
THE NEUTRAL COLOR LEATHER INTERIOR WITH THE AIRBAG SEATBELTS IS AS SOFT AND LUXURIOUS AS ANY LUXURY CAR.
THIS 2007 GTS-X TURBO HAS 1480 HOURS TOTAL TIME SINCE NEW ! THE FLIGHT TIME IS LESS, ONLY 1,247 HOURS
UNFORTUNATELY, A MAINTENANCE ISSUE CAUSED THE IO-550 ENGINE TO LOOSE OIL PRESSURE. THE ENGINE FROZE, AND THE AIRPLANE WAS FORCED TO MAKE AN OFF-AIRPORT LANDING IN THE DESERT NEAR LAS VEGAS, NEVADA.
SINCE THE PILOT WAS STILL IN CONTROL OF THE GLIDING AIRPLANE, HE ELECTED NOT TO DEPLOY THE WHOLE AIRPLANE PARACHUTE SYSTEM, SO THIS SYSTEM IS STILL INTACT, AND THE FUSELAGE STRAP COVERS AND PARACHUTE BAY COVER HAVE NOT BEEN DAMAGED.
ALL 3 OF THE LANDING GEAR SNAPPED OFF, THE NOSE GEAR AT IT"S SLENDER STRUT, AND THE MAIN GEAR ON THE FIBERGLASS LEGS. THE WING AND SPAR DO NOT APPEAR TO HAVE SUSTAINED DAMAGE IN THE GEAR ATTACH AREA.
THE WING IS DAMAGED, ON IT"S LEFT LEADING EDGE INBOARD, OUT TO ABOUT THE MIDPOINT. THIS DAMAGE APPEARS TO BE ONLY TO THE OUTER SKIN, AND POSSIBLY ONE NOSE RIB SLIGHTLY, AND DOES NOT GO BACK TO HAVE AFFECTED THE SPAR, WHICH GOES ALL THE WAY FROM END TO END.
THE CARBON FIBER SPAR DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE ANY DAMAGE !!
THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WING DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE EVEN ANY SKIN DAMAGE, AND THE TKS DEICE PANELS ARE INTACT ON THE RIGHT SIDE>
THE BOLT=ON WINGTIPS. ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES, ARE WITHOUT ANY DAMAGE, INCLUDING THE STROBES, NAV-LIGHTS AND LANDING LIGHTS WHICH ARE BUILT IN TO THEM.
THE RIGHT AILERON APPEARS OK, BUT BOTH FLAPS, THE LEFT AILERON, AND SEVERAL OF THE FLAP BRACKETS ON THE TRAILING EDGE OF THE WING ARE BENT AT LEAST SLIGHTLY.
THE FUSELAGE APPEARS COMPLETELY UNDAMAGED FROM THE TOP !!
ALL OF THE GLASS AND THE WINDSHIELD ARE IN GREAT SHAPE
THE DOORS ARE COMPLETELY UNDAMAGED, AND HINGE FORWARD AND UP AS INTENDED AND SEAL PERFECTLY.
THERE IS NO DAMAGE AT ALL TO THE TAILCONE, AND THE ONLY DAMAGE TO THE TAIL FEATHERS IS A VERY SMALL DING ON THE LEFT HORIZONTAL STAB TKS PANEL. THE LEFT ELEVATOR PLASTIC TIP IS CRACKED ON THE BOTTOM, BUT THE ELEVATOR IS UNDAMAGED.
THE BELLY HAS A PUNCTURE/DENT IN IT, BEHIND THE PANEL WHERE THE SPAR GOES UNDER THE FUSELAGE. THIS IS NOT A LARGE AREA, AND IT IS NOT EVEN VISIBLE UNTIL YOU GO DOWN ON YOUR KNEES AND LOOK UNDER THAT AREA.
THERE IS NO OTHER FUSELAGE DAMAGE AT ALL !!
THE LOWER COWL IS INTACT, BUT IT DOES HAVE SOME VERY SMALL CRACKS AND PUNCTURES, AGAIN DOWN LOW.
THE UPPER COWLING IS, OF COURSE, PERFECT !!
I"M SURE THAT MANY PEOPLE READING THIS LISTING HAVE WONDERED HOW A LIGHTLY HURT AIRPLANE LIKE THIS CAME TO BE TOTALED?
I HAVE HEARD THE OFFICIAL REASON, BUT I SUSPECT THAT THE OWNER, WHO HAD A VERY NICE, LOW TIME AIRPLANE, PUT SOME PRESSURE ON THE FACTORY AND OR THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO SIMPLY PAY HIM, RATHER THAN TO MAKE HIM WAIT FOR THE REPAIR, AND END UP WITH A DIMINISHED VALUE AIRPLANE DUE TO DAMAGE HISTORY. THE FACT THAT IF THEY FIXED THE AIRPLANE, THE OWNER WOULD HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE HIMSELF, OUT OF HIS POCKET,WAS A HUGE MOTIVATOR FOR HIM TO COMPLAIN AND PUT PRESSURE ON EVERYBODY TO TOTAL.
YOU DO KNOW THAT AN INSURANCE COMPANY DOES NOT PAY FOR A BLOWN ENGINE, RIGHT? IF THE AIRPLANE IS REPAIRABLE, YOU PAY THAT PORTION, BUT, IF IT IS A TOTAL, THE OWNER DOESN"T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING. LOT;S OF INCENTIVE TO TOTAL !!
SO, EVEN THOUGH THE WING IS VERY, VERY REPAIRABLE, AND THE BELLY DAMAGE ISNT THAT BAD, IT WAS DECIDED THAT IT WOULD BE TOTALED BECAUSE THE BELLY PUNCTURE GOES RIGHT UP TO THE REAR WALL OF THE SPAR CARRYTHROUGH BOX IN THE FUSELAGE. NOW KEEP IN MIND THAT THE WING ONLY BOLTS TO THE FRONT OF THAT BOX, NOT THE REAR, BUT THE QUESTION MARK WAS ENOUGH FOR CIRRUS. NONE OF DAMAGE ON ITS OWN WAS ENOUGH, BUT AS A RESULT OF THE WING DAMAGE AND THE REAR SPAR BOX DAMAGE, CIRRUS PLACED THE AIRPLANE ON THIER "DEAD" LIST, WHICH IS A LIST OF SERIAL NUMBERS THAT CIRRUS SAID CANNOT BE REPAIRED TO THE FACTORIES SATISFACTION, SO IF THEY ARE REPAIRED, THE OWNER CANNOT OPTAIN ANY FACTORY SUPPORT.
THIS DOES NOT ACTUALLY KILL THE AIRPLANE, THE WAY A SALVAGE TITLE ON A CAR MIGHT, BUT IT REDUCES THE VALUE, AT LEAST.THE ENGINE, WITH ALL OF IT"S BOLT ON ACCESSORIES, EXHAUST, ETC. HAS BEEN REMOVED, AND NONE OF THESE ITEMS ARE INCLUDED HERE
AFTER LOOKING AT THIS AIRPLANE TODAY, I BELIEVE THERE ARE 3 VALID USES FOR THIS AIRFRAME:
INSTALL A REPLACEMENT IO-550 ENGINE (THE ENGINE ITSELF IS THE SAME AS A NON TURBO CIRRUS). OF COURSE YOU WOULD NEED TO HAVE A QUALIFIED COMPOSITE MAN REPAIR THE WING AND BELLY AS WELL, AND REPLACE THE PIECES THAT WERE DAMAGED OR BROKEN. FLY IT, SELL IT, WHATEVER, BUT BE AWARE IT IS ON THE "DEAD LIST. I SOLD AN SR-22 THAT IS ON THE LIST TO A GENTLEMAN LAST YEAR, WHO HAD IT REPAIRED AND HAS PUT OVER 200 TROUBLE FREE HOURS ON IT AS HIS PERSONAL AIRPLANE, SO THE LIST DOES NOT SAY THAT THE AIRPLANES CAN"T FLY, JUST THAT CIRRUS HAS A PROBLEM WITH THEM. ADDING AND REPAIRING ALL THE REQUIRED PARTS WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE UNLESS YOU FOUND A SUITABLE "DONOR" AIRPLANE.USE THIS AIRPLANE AS A DISPLAY, OR PROP, OR WHATEVER. WITH THE FUSELAGE SO INTACT AND UNDAMAGED, THE REPAIRS REQUIRED TO HAVE THIS AIRPLANE LOOK READY TO FLY ARE WELL WITHIN THE SCOPE OF ANY REASONABLE AUTO BODY MAN !! TO THIS END, WE ARE NOT INCLUDING THE PFD (PRIMARY FLIGHT DIRECTOR), MFD (MULTIFUNCTION DISPLAY), NOR ANY OF THE AVIONICS OR FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS, BUT IF YOU NEED ANY OF THIS STUFF FOR YOUR PURPOSES, IT IS READILY AVAILABLE, FROM US OR OTHERS, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE. USE IT FOR PARTS. THE NEUTRAL LEATHER IS UNDAMAGED. THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT BLOWN. THE DOORS ARE PERFECT. THE GENERATION 3 CARBON FIBER WING ($40,000 VALUE USED IF UNDAMAGED)AS ALREADY STATED, IS VERY REPAIRABLE, THE ENTIRE TAIL ASSEMBLY IS USEABLE, THE MAIN GEAR WHEELS AND BRAKES ARE UNDAMAGED, THE ENGINE MOUNT AND ALL OF THE FIREWALL MOUNTED ELECTRICAL ITEMS ARE INTACT AND UNDAMAGED, THE UPPER COWL IS GOOD, ETC., ETC.

BE AWARE THAT A CIRRUS WING IS 36 FEET LONG, AND THE TAIL IS TOO WIDE TO CARRY ON A TRAILER WITHOUT TURNING THE WHOLE FUSELAGE AT AN ANGLE, SO IF YOU ARE GOING TO MOVE THIS AIRPLANE INTACT, WITHOUT CUTTING IT WILL REQUIRE A LONG TRAILER, SOME TYPE OF LIFT OR CRANE, AND PROBABLY BUILDING A STAND. THE WOODEN STAND THE AIRPLANE IS SITTING ON IS NOT INCLUDED OR AVAILABLE.
