COLONEL !!PAINT IS METALLIC CHARCOAL BLACK AND SILVER, WITH BRIGHT ACCENTSONLY 120 HOURS TOTAL TIME SINCE NEW (HE LIKED TO POLISH IT AND SHOW IT OFF AS MUCH AS FLY IT)AND THEN CAME THE DEER !FLYING OFF A GRASS STRIP CAN BRING UNEXPECTED SURPRISES, AND THIS ONE WAS IN THE FORM OF A DEER, WHO CAME IN FROM THE LEFT SIDE, AND GOT TANGLED UP UNDER THE LEFT FUSELAGE, FOLLOWED BY THE AIRPLANE GOING OVER ON IT"S BACK. AS YOU MIGHT IMAGINE, THERE IS DAMAGE AS A RESULT.THE LEFT WING IS WRINKLED ON THE OUTBOARD LEADING EDGE AND BACK TOWARD THE TIPTHE LEFT WING FORWARD ATTACH POINT IS RIPPED AS WELL.THE MAIN SPAR ON THE LEFT WING DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE WRINKLED AND THE REAR ATTACH POINT IS GOODTHERE IS DAMAGE TO THE BELLY AFT OF THE FIREWALL, BUT NOT ALL THE WAY BACK, AS THE TAILWHEEL AND MOUNTING AREA ARE STRAIGHT, AND THE SIDE AND UPPER SKINS ARE GOOD ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TAILCONETHE FIREWALL ITSELF IS ALSO STRAIGHT, AS IS THE UPPER BOOTCOWL AREA, WHERE THE FORWARD BAGGAGE DOOR AND SURROUNDING AREA ARE UNDAMAGEDTHE WINDSHIELD POST IS REINFORCED AS A "ROLL BAR", AND I HAVE FOUND IF AN RV-8 GOES OVER HARD ON IT"S CANOPY, THAT THE BAR BENDS, AND EVEN WORSE, THE SIDEWALL OF THE FORWARD CABIN WRINKLES. THIS AIRPLANE IS STRAIGHT IN THE AREA OF THE ROLL BAR ATTACHMENT, AND THE ROLL BAR IS NOT BENT !!THE RIGHT WING DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE SERIOUSLY DAMAGED, MAYBE JUST SCRATCHED UP, AND THE MAIN SPAR, AS WELL AS THE FRONT ATTACH POINT ON THIS WING ARE GOODBOTH FLAPS AND BOTH AILERONS LOOK GOOD, AND THE RIGHT TIP WITH FORWARD FACING LIGHT IS GOODBOTH LANDING GEAR LEGS LOOK GOOD, AND THE CLEVELAND WHEELS AND BRAKES ARE UNDAMAGED, BUT THE FIBERGLASS FAIRINGS ARE CRACKED AND BROKEN.THE FUSELAGE HAS WRINKLES ON THE LEFT SIDE, AND THE CANOPY GLASS IS CRACKED, BUT THE FRAME LOOKS GOOD, AND SLIDES OKTHE HORIZONTAL AND ELEVATORS LOOK GOOD. THE TOPS OF THE VERTICAL AND RUDDER ARE DAMAGED, BUT JUST A LITTLE SHEETMETAL, MOSTLY THE FIBERGLASS CAPSINSIDE, THE SEATS ARE THE NICE PADDED BLACK THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT WITH THIS PAINT SCHEME. SHARPBOTH SEATS HAVE AEROBATIC "HOOKER" SHOULDER HARNESS/SEATBELTS, AND BOTH STICKS HAVE GRIPS WITH BUTTONS OR A TRIGGER ON EVERY SURFACE !!THE DASH IS MOSTLY EMPTY OF FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS, BUT THE DIGITAL ENGINE MONITOR SYSTEM IS THERE, INCLUDING THE HARNESS AND PROBES, AND THE ENGINE CONTROL CABLES ARE GOOD.AS YOU CAN SEE, THE ELECTRICAL SWITCHES AND BREAKERS ARE ALSO THERE, AS ARE TRIM INDICATORS, COMPASS, AMMETER, ETC.THERE IS A REALLY NICE SIDE MOUNTED QUADRANT FOR THROTTLE, MIXTURE AND PROP LEVERS, AND A MODERN FUEL SELECTOR IN THE LEFT SIDEWALLBACK OUTSIDE, THE TOP COWLING HAS ONLY A VERY LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT DAMAGE, MOSTLY SCRATCHES NEAR THE SPINNER AREA, BUT THE LOWER COWL IS UNDAMAGED !ON THE UNDAMAGED FIREWALL, THE ENGINE MOUNT LOOKS OK, AS DOES THE OIL COOLER AND ALL OF THE REST OF THE FIREWALL MOUNTED ITEMS.I WISH I COULD TELL YOU THAT I HAD A BOX FULL OF PAPERWORK TO GO WITH THIS PLANE, BUT I DONT, SORRY.THE LOGBOOKS AND OTHER ASSOCIATED PAPERWORK WERE LOST DURING TRANSPORTATION, AND WE ONLY HAVE THE WORD OF THE RETIRED AIR FORCE LT. COL TO GO BY ON ELAPSED TIME. FRANKLY, OF COURSE I BELIEVE HIM !! (AND THE HOBBS METER BACKS HIM UP)WE HAVE AN FAA BILL OF SALE TO TRANSFER THE TITLELOCATED IN A SECURE HANGER AT OUR MAIN LOCATION AT THE CRYSTAL AIRPORT (KMIC), JUST NORTH OF MINNEAPOLIS, MN.WE WILL STORE THE AIRPLANE FOR 30 DAYS AT NO CHARGE, AND ADDITIONAL TIME IS AVAILABLE FOR $8 PER DAY.LOADING HELP AND A FORKLIFT ARE AVAILABLE FOR HIRE IF YOU DESIRE THEM.THIS WAS A TOP OF THE LINE AIRPLANE, AND THE REPAIR WILL BE A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF TIME AND MONEY COMPARED TO BUILDING IT FROM EVEN A QUICK-BUILD KIT.COOL.
