The kit I have is very complete. The original owner, Randolph Wells of Buffalo NY bought the plane from BD on March 23, 1973, I bought the BD from Randolph on March 3, 1985 when I was flying fighter jets for the NY Air National Guard in Niagara Falls. The original owner was an attorney and he made sure he got everything from Jim Bede. I have all the original paperwork, invoices, sales literature and letters he wrote to Jim. The owner had the center wing spar and wing spars match machined and the two wing spars were built and assembled with ribs at the factory or at the time BD Micro and Keith Hinshaw on factory jigs. . The wings just need to be sealed, dimpled and riveted close. I believe the gear attach points are also drilled. I have the additional stiffener ribs that I bought from Hinshaw but they are not installed. The wing skins are all drilled as well as the ailerons and everything is in original boxes. Everything needs to be dimpled, I don"t think I did the wings. The horizontal and vertical stabilizers were also drilled and fitted on factory jigs and the rear spar for the horizontal was machined for the mounting hardware and is ready to rivet. Again in the original box. They are all drilled but not riveted. The center spar for the wing was machined as well. The previous owner did not want to do much so he had either the factory or who ever they used to make or machine most of the parts that the builder had to machine. There are other parts machined as well but I don"t remember what. I have a cut and drilled nose gear retract box assembly as well. That was a real hard part to build. I bought a nose gear and I have a special group of plans that show how to make the nose gear doors. . I bought a drive system for the plane from BD Micro but do not know if it is Wade or Jerry but I do believe it was from Texas which I believe would be Wade but not sure. I do know it is one of the two. I bought it around 1986. I stretched the fuselage 5.2" with the kit I bought from BD Micro. . The fuselage is done to the point of cutting out the skin for the center spar and mounting the braces and the spar. Doors are cut and are perfect. the fuselage was drilled and when I assembled it I jigged it and re-measured every ten or so rivets. It took forever and the proseal was messy but I have a very straight fuselage. I had originally intended to I have all the newsletters, plans changes, plans and I have plans that no one ever got regarding gear and engine installation and others. I have a complete set of plans that many builders did not get. I bought most of them extra from various places over the years. I have lots of original memorabilia and a BD-5 Flight and Aircraft manual. I also have the original instruments they sent with the plane. The only thing I do not have are two main gear castings but they can be bought now from BD Micro. Current date: 2015-08-16
