“Cessna 172RG had minor gear-up landing.”
Make: Cessna Model Year: 1980
1980 Cessna 172RG "Needs Repairs" N6171V Serial Number 0588TTA: 7493 Last Annual 9-13-2013 Lycoming 0-360-F1A6 TTE: 1830 (Very Low TTE) Serial Number L-28908 This is a very nice plane and is a very good deal for an A&P; or someone who knows one. The pilot had a landing gear no-lock situation. He landed the aircraft so soft and slow that he kept the damage to belly-rash. The flight center (Prior Aviation) started (135) repairs and were at a point of replacing the belly skin when the insurance adjuster informed them he was selling the plane as-is after learning from the engine shop that the crankshaft needed replacement. Since "Prior" had professionally removed the belly skins, checked and cleared the gear, checked and cleared the airframe, and even the gear doors where good, this made me feel good about buying the aircraft from Wentworth Aviation. When we arrive at "Prior" to pickup the aircraft we found they had neatly packaged all the parts and thrown in the belly skins and replacement metal. Their IA who worked on the plane recommended to me to replace the crank since the original engine had the prop strike that dialed out at .003. We were very happy to learn that the plane had been on a 135 certificate at Prior, had great logs, and looked good. Wentworth had sold me the aircraft minus the radios and HSI so we knew needed to buy: a crank, a prop, and radios; which I have already done and they are included. Since the engine had 7,400TT and had been through a prop strike I decided to purchase a low-time motor that had never been in a prop strike. So we bought an engine with only 1,800hrs Total Time. I next purchased overhauled cylinders, a vacuume pump, a battery, etc... Then I purchased a new prop with 0-SMOH. Next I bought a complete set of Cessna Digital radios, transponder, and DG. At that point I was on my way, until my IA passed away. And that has thrown a large problem in the process. After long and hard deliberations I have decided to sell the plane as-is. It will be an easy fix for an A&P; but unfortunately I"m not one. So my loss is your gain. This is what I have in the plane in real money: Plane $13,880, Engine $8,100, Prop $5,800, Radios $2,750 = $30,530. Again, my loss is your gain. It has been sitting in my hanger for two years and needs to go. The wings and horizontal fins were removed by "Prior" so the plane is ready to be transported. Good luck bidding. No reserve. I will send additional pictures if requested. I have included some pictures that were provided to me which show the aircraft before it was geared-up. They also show what the plane will look like when the repairs are made. You can see from my eBay rating of 751 @ 100% that we are a good buyer and seller and always describes items as they are.
