This historic Easy Riser ultralight was built around 1980 from an assembly kit. The builder later also built a Niuport 17 experimental plane that won the grand champion award at oskosh so you would understand that this plane is well built and covered. The Easy Riser, modeled after the Icarus hanglider, was the first powered ultralight and was initially built and flown for many years by John Moody who is considered by many to be the father of powered ultralighting. The early model was footlaunched and is included in a list of the 100 most important aircraft since the Wright brothers. There are many still flying including most recently at the Oshkosh airshow this year.
I assembled the plane for the photos and repaired and/or replaced some tubing and fabric and some of the aircraft bolts but the plane needs to be completely gone over. The successful bidder will be expected to sign a liability release that this is being sold and purchased as a non-flyable unit. The landing gear is the "cross-wind" version designed by John Moody. It comes with a full set of the original assembly drawings.
It does not have the hammock weight shift seat but a couple of styles should still be available online for around $70. The airframe kit (the wings only) was recently being sold for around $3600 so this is a way to get that setup plus motor, gear and trailer for less. The trailer has never been licensed or titled so all I can provide on it is a bill of sale but it does have a rubber roof for outside storage and tail and brake lights. I have dismantled it and replaced it in the trailer where it had been stored in a barn since the early 1980"s. It has never been flown and the motor has only been thru the run-up process but due to the age I have not fueled it up nor attempted to run it. The trailer lights work and the tires look fine for an extended road trip.
The engine is a Chrysler "Power Bee" of 8 hp although the plane can handle power up to 20 hp. Manuals for the 8 hp motor are online. The current suggested motor is a Hirth F-36 of 15 hp. The buyer is expected to make a paypal deposit within 48 hours and the balance within 14 days by either postal money order or cash. Any shipping must be arranged by the buyer however I am willing to store it a reasonable time for you if needed. thanks for looking.
This is a relisting as the former bidder did not pay or even look at the plane, bid on behalf of a friend that would not pay him and neither of them even looked at it. Please do not bid unless you are serious. I am happy to have it inspected if you send a question asking for an appointment.
