Northrop Aircraft right angle gearbox. I don"t know this history of this unit, but I purchased it with some other good quality machine tools and aircraft parts. This unit looks used but it appears to work just fine. I have no way to test this device so I will not guarantee it"s performance nor it"s application. It looks like this would be used to drive the flaps on an airplane, but I"m not sure if it would be for something like a Boeing or a Cessna.
It looks like the labels say: Made by Northrop Aircraft Vard Inc. Part number: 568881-500 Serial number: 04-3-35 Flap Reduction gear box
This does not look real old, but it could be vintage / antique.
This gear drive could potentially be used for cars, ATVs, experimental aircraft, boats, tractors & mowers, or other hobby and craftsman projects.
