This being a 1966 Piper 180 Hp Cherokee it has the addition of a baggage door where a 160 may not, Piper dropped the clunky crossover exhaust in favor of the more conventional installation. Also as a notable improvement is the fiberglass cowling. The air filter is then contained within the cowl versus being external on older versions.
Has speed mods installed on Flap and Aileron gaps along with flap hinges fairings.
This Aircraft suffered a crosswind landing problem about a year ago. Damage incurred to the nose gear/engine mount, one wing flap and heater control box. I have acquired these parts and installed them. This project is almost done, have repaired the lower cowl structure, it could use some filler and paint or leave alone, engine has been run up and is awesome, mag check has as minimal RPM drop, oil pressure is great.
Interior is partially installed, carpets in sorry shape and need replacement.
•This Cherokee has shoulder harnesses as an add to the 1966 version.
•Windshield is in great shape not scratched or crazed.
•Installed radios are as follows, King KT 76A Transponder and a Narco DME are installed on the right side of the panel. A set of Narco 810 Coms along with a pair of Nav radios, 825 Narco and 824 with indicators in the usual spot along with a PS engineering PM 6000M audio panel with the intercom built in.
Aircraft is in great shape structurally shown zero signs of corrosion. Paint is awesome and the attention to detail by the paint shop is evidenced by the new hardware used to install the wingtips and other remaining fairings.
• Bogert Copper wires from Battery to the Starter and Bogert Battery box mod.
• Concorde no spill battery
• Lightweight Skytec Starter motor.
• Plane power Lightweight Alternator,
• Rams horn control wheels with 1-1/8 shafts installed with PTT switches. Tires in good shape. Left strut seal recently changed. Chrome on the struts in great shape, zero rust or pitting.
All in all a rather adorable Cherokee 180, am working on this aircraft daily.
