1999 Quad City Challenger 2 Long WingStandard Instrument PackageRotax 503 DCDI EngineBallistic Recovery Chute I bought this plane at an auction with the intent to fix up, and fly. Unfortunately I haven"t been able to find the time to work on it much. The engine runs great, I cleaned up the wiring, and panel, and thats about it. The fabric is in decent shape but will need some TLC in a few areas. Personally I was going to re-skin the whole plane so I could get it inspected and update a few of the known challenger weak spots. The plane has not been inspected since 2014, that I am aware of. The license, and registration are not current, beings the last owner passed away. This is a lucrative project for sure, I was an airframe mechanic for 6 years in the Marines, and I can tell you this plane wont take a lot to be made into a real nice bird. There is some damage due to a micro burst coming through the hangar. I had left the wings mounted on it without the braces connecting the struts. I had motorcycle straps on it, but I guess they weren"t on that tight, or the wind bouncing it around knocked them off. Anyway Marv, the guy who owns the space I rent saw what happened. He told me when the burst happened the plane came off the ground about 6 or 8 feet, forward slightly out of the hangar and landed hard on the Nose, then the mains and tail, and at the time the mains came down, the wings bent the struts in. The wings continued flapping and eventually snapped the struts in half. Marv and another tenant secured the plane and then called me.
