was introduced as a big wing version of the Velocity Standard. This aircraft has the same total 145 SF
wing area as the larger Velocity XL model.
The Velocity 173 shares the same 42” wide cabin width and 2+2 seating as
the Velocity Standard. The 173 wing and lighter wing loading allows this
aircraft to have a lower approach, shorter landing distance and lower stall
speed compared to the Velocity Standard.
The Elite gull-wing doors provide easy entry and exit for the pilot and
copilot. Taxiing with doors open
provides plenty of ventilation during ground operations, helping to keep the
cabin cool and comfortable. The Velocity 173 is designed around the Lycoming IO-360
engine and may be operated with either a fixed or constant speed propeller (kit
comes without engine or propeller). Expect comfortable +170KTAS cruise speeds with 200HP. Great cross country cruiser.
