1946 TAYLORCRAFT BC-12D, 2803, POLYFIBER AND REBUILD IN 2013, RT WING OB DAMAGE, NICE!THE TAYLORCRAFT BC-12D IS THE POSTWAR, IMPROVED VERSION OF THE AIRPLANE THAT C.G. TAYLOR, THE DESIGNER AND ORIGINAL BUILDER OF THE CUB, HAD PRODUCED FOR THE MILITARY THROUGHOUT WORLD WAR TWO.SINCE THE FACTORY WAS FULLY STAFFED AND OPERATING, THEY WERE ABLE TO START CIVILIAN PRODUCTION ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, SO THIS AIRPLANE WAS PRODUCED IN JANUARY OF 1946!THE LOGBOOK STARTS 10-15-1947, WHEN THE AIRPLANE ALREADY HAD 988 HOURS OF TIME ON IT (LOTS OF FLYING GOING ON THEN!) AND ARE CONSECUTIVE TO THE PRESENT.WE KNOW THE MANUFACTURED DATE BECAUSE WE HAVE AN ORIGINAL OPERATION LIMITATION PLACARD (THE PRECURSER TO OUR AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE), FROM 1948 THAT SAYS THE MANUFACTURE DATE.DON’T WORRY, WE ALSO HAVE A CURRENT, LEGAL AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE, FROM WHEN THEY STARTED IN 1956!THIS AIRCRAFT WAS GIVEN A COMPLETE MAKEOVER IN 2013, AT 2,560 TOTAL TIME, ONLY 240 HOURS AGO, WHICH IS WHY IT LOOKS SO NICE, INSIDE AND OUT!FABRIC WAS ALL REPLACED WITH POLYFIBER AT THAT TIME!LIFT STRUTS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW SEALED STRUTS TO ELIMINATE THE RECURRING AD!NEW WINDSHIELD INSTALLED.SEAT AND INTERIOR RECOVERED.THE WINGS HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN UPGRADED TO FUEL TANKS IN BOTH WINGS AND WITH THE S.T.C THAT ALLOWS FOR 85 H.P. ENGINE INSTALLATION, BUT THIS AIRPLANE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A 65 UP TILL NOW.WE ARE SELLING THE COMPLETE AIRFRAME, AS SHOWN, BUT WITHOUT THE ENGINE, ENGINE ACCESSORIES OR PROPELLOR.I HAVE FOUND WITH THIS TYPE OF AIRPLANE, THE PROSPECTIVE BUYER ALREADY HAS, OR KNOWS OF THE PERFECT ENGINE AND WAS JUST LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT AIRFRAME TO PUT IT IN!THIS IS THAT AIRFRAME!THIS AIRCRAFT HAS VERY LIGHT WING DAMAGE, BUT IT WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT!IN 2019, WHILE TIED DOWN OUTSIDE, A HIGH WIND ALLOWED THE AIRPLANE TO STRECH THE ROPES AND THE RIGHT WING TOUCHED THE GROUND.AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE ATTACHED PHOTOS, THE RIGHT WING IS DAMAGED AT THE REAR TIP, WHICH ALSO DAMAGED THE OUTBOARD END OF THE RIGHT AILERON.THERE IS NO APPARENT DAMAGE FURTHER INBOARD, AND NO DAMAGE TO THE WING ATTACH POINTS, THE FUEL TANK AREA, THE SEALED STRUT OR JURY STRUT.THE LEFT WING PROBABLY CONTACTED SLIGHTLY AS WELL, AS THE CORNER OF THE TIP BOW AND THE OUTSIDE CORNER OF THE LEFT AILERON HEACH HAVE SLIGHT DINGS.AGAIN, NO OTHER DEFORMATION, NO ATTACH ARE OR TANK ISSUES, THE NEW SEALED LIFTSTRUT AND JURY STRUT ARE UNDAMAGED.THERE IS A SMALL 2” AREA 1” WIDE ON THE FORWARD TOP SKIN WHERE THE FABRIC WAS SKINNED BACK, ABOVE THE METAL LEADING EDGE. NO PUNCTURE HERE.THE ENTIRE FUSELAGE SHOWS NO DAMAGE, INSIDE AND OUT!NO DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR OR GEAR ATTACH POINTS.NO DAMAGE TO THE CABIN, TAILCONE, OR TAIL FEATHERS.NO DAMAGE TO THE DOORS OR GLASS.NO DAMAGE TO THE FIREWALL, ENGINE MOUNT, OR GEAR LEGS.THE ENGINE CONTROL CABLES, SCAT TUBING, MOUNTING BOLTS AND MOUNT RUBBERS ARE INCLUDED, AS ARE THE CARB AIR BOX AND THE EXHAUST SYSTEM!!!THE AIRPLANE’S ANNUAL EXPIRED 9/1/2020 AND THE AIRPLANE HAS BEEN SITTING, DISASSEMBLED, IN A STORAGE LOCKER SINCE DISASSEMBLY, ON IT’S GEAR, NOT IN SOME BARN!WE WILL PAY THE RENT ON THE LOCKER, LOCATED IN NEWNAN,GEORGIA, NEAR ATLANTA, UNTIL THE END OF FEBRUARY, SO YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO PICK IT UP.
