1967 Cessna C421. This airplane was flying and in annual until 3-31-2016. It had been maintained by the same person for 20 years. He decided not to do it anymore, so the aircraft was taken to a Cessna Service center by the new owners. The inspection found several items that need correcting. Most critical of the items are the intermediate spars on both sides have cracks. There is a repair kit available (this is a know issue for the early 421 and 310"s) for fairly inexpensive, but the labor to install the kits was expensive. The other thing of note was the left engine had 3 cracked cylinders. The cracks are common with the midlife 421 and are from the spark plug hole to the injector area. The airplane comes with an addition engine (as removed) which I"m sure (not really sure) has three good cylinders that could be cleaned up and used. I flew the airplane 1 hour to the shop, and home from the shop....fly"s great, nothing noticeable. The annual inspection is properly noted in the log books and signed off 4-14-2016. This airplane deserves to be fixed. It"s pretty clean, and if purchased by an IA or A&P could be flying in a couple weeks and you would have a really nice airplane. I don"t want to sell it to a wrecking yard, but the owners want it gone (they owned it 6 months, and are not all that happy). Send me a message for the full list of discrepancies noted by the shop.
